Wilkins Family Dedicated to Helping First Responders

This Saturday, Brookfield Iron & Metal along with Got Scrap? We Pay More!, located at 223 E. 12th St, in Chicago Heights volunteered their resources to help the Fire Science Technology program at Prairie State College. The program is designed to prepare students

for employment as a volunteer, paid-on-call part-time, or full-time municipal firefighter.

They donated scrap cars that were set ablaze for the students to practice the techniques that are needed in hazardous rescue operations. “We think it’s important to give back to the community. We always try to help in any way that we can,” states the Operations Manager of Got Scrap? We Pay More!, Josh Shank. “Brookfield Iron & Metal has been donating their services to help train fire fighters for years. We are excited that we now get to be a part of that.”

Got Scrap? We Pay More! just recently opened its doors to help cater its scrap solutions to the construction and retail industries. It is now the second scrap yard owned by the Wilkins’ family, along with Brookfield Iron & Metal.  Both companies branched off from Wilkins’ Rebuilders Supply, which was started by Peter Wilkins in 1986 and is now one of the largest truck wreckers and parts suppliers in the Midwest.
